Youmu Kompaku

Youmu es una de las entidades más raras de Gensokyo, teniendo una parte fantasma y parte humana al mismo tiempo. Sus dos mitades no se entremezclan, como cabría esperar de una raza cruzada, pero en realidad existe en cuerpos separados físicamente. Youmu tiene una personalidad sencilla y centrada, que complementa con sus capacidades en esgrima. Como sea, suele tener conflictos de personalidad con la de su ama, Yuyuko Saigyouji, que es muy caprichosa y juguetona por naturaleza. Aun así, ella sirve a Yuyuko lo mejor que puede, cuidando los jardines en Hakugyokurou y siguiendo sus ordenes.

Youmu normalmente lleva dos sables al mismo tiempo, las cuales estudió de su predecesor Youki. La espada larga se llama 楼観剣 (Roukanken) (Espada del Mirador), se dice que es capaz de matar a diez fantasmas de una pasada, la espada corta 白楼剣 (Hakurouken) (Espada de la Torre Blanca) es capaz de pasar a través de la confusión de una persona. Como sea, no se sabe mucho sobre su estilo de esgrima, o sus padres. Lo que se sabe es que Youki, tambien un sirviente de Hakugyokurou, empezo a entrenar a una muy joven Youmu (Tal vez cuando era niña..) , cuando de repente un día desapareció, dejando su estilo incompleto (y probablemente obligando a que ella se enseñe a ella misma). Nadie sabe donde se encuentra él.

Durante los acontecimientos de Perfect Cherry Blossom, Yuyuko ordena a Youmu que reuna la mayor cantidad de esencia de la primavera en Gensokyo como pueda,con el fin de que todo el jardín de cerezos en flor, incluyendo al legendario Saigyou Ayakashi, florecieran perfectamente. Los esfuerzos de Youmu indirectamente causaron que el invierno se mantuviera en Gensokyo. Youmu trató de impedir que nuestras protagonistas llegaran a Hakugyokurou, pero fue derrotada. Asimismo, trató de detener el enfrentamiento contra Yuyuko, pero fue derrotada nuevamente. En Imperishable Night, viajó al mundo de los vivos con la intención de arreglar la luna (aunque Yuyuko estaba más interesada en tener un tour de comidas con el "dragón al plato" como plato principal). En Phantasmagoria of Flower View, ella está en sus propios asuntos, pero tropieza con varias personajes merodeando por Hakugyokurou que sospechan que ella esta detrás del incidente de las flores. Cuando por ella misma viaja a Gensokyo a mirar el espectáculo, ella inmediatamente nota lo que estaba pasando, sin pensarlo.
